소비사회의 동질성을 표현하기 위한 다양한 이미지들은 이미 하나의 새로운 생태계의 토대다. 모두가 동일한 플라스틱을 소비 하고 모두가 동일한 이미지로 스스로까지 소비대상이 돼야지만 보통의 도시 생태계에 귀속 될 수 있기에 말이다. 소비사회를 통한 무분별한 채움의 학습은 신체까지 상품화 하여 도시의 생태계를 기형적으로 진화시켜 가고 있다. 평등한 소비사회의 선전은 판타지를 기반으로 제공된 생태계이기에 우리는 판타지를 기반 한 기형적 형태로 변해가며 반복적인 채움을 통해 유지된다. 사회는 판타지 세계에 살고 있는 대중에게 판타지가 현실이라는 착각의 도구로 소비생태계를 형성해 놨다.


신은 소비생태계에서 다양한 형태로 보인다-
단골집 사장님은 종교는 없지만, 금빛 플라스틱으로 만들어진 오만원권 그림이 가게에 성물처럼 장식되어있다. 보통 잘생긴 백인의 예수얼굴이 있어야 할 자리에 오만원권이 모셔진 이유에 사장님은 “돈 많이 벌고 싶어서 놔뒀다”고 하셨다. 그리고 “돈 많이 벌면 벤츠를 살거”라고 하셨다. 그 말은 마치 천원짜리 헌금은 주님이 싫어하신다는 식의 가사로 회자되는 한 찬송가의 구절을 떠올렸다. 이러한 소비욕망은 유일신 종교나 단순 기복신앙의 모습으로 보이지 않았다. 소비될 수 있는 대상이라면 모든것이 신을 모시는 장면처럼 보였다. 그럴 경우 대량 생산되는 플라스틱도 신이 될 수 있는 것이 아닌가. 결국 소비욕망에서 치환된 애니미즘적 사고방식이 생존을 위한 필수조건으로 보였다. 진화론적으로 바라봤을 때 모든 생명체는 동종과의 경쟁을 통해 집단을 생존시키기 위해 진화했다. 이러한 생존경쟁을 지금의 소비생태계에 적용해 본다면, 기호가치로 만들어지는 신분제를 위해 경쟁적으로 소비를 하는 행태와 유사함을 알 수 있다. 바바라 크루거의 “나는 소비한다 고로 존재한다”는 문구가 의미하듯 말이다.

Various images to express the homogeneity of consumer society are already the foundation of a new ecosystem. Society has formed a consuming ecosystem as the illusion that fantasy is reality for the masses living in the fantasy world.

God is seen in various forms in the consumption ecosystem -

If we apply this survival competition to the consumption ecosystem of today, we can see that it is similar to the behavior of consuming competitively for the identification system made with symbol value. As Barbara Kruger's phrase "I exist as a consumer" means.
