커피와 돈이 가지고 있는 보이지 않는 이야기들은 무수하며 물질만능주의 성과주의의 세상에서 이 둘의 유혹은 뿌리치기 힘든 중독성 강한 매체이다.

일반적으로 돈에 대한 인식은 경제와 물리적 부의 척도로 이루어 진다. 하지만 돈은 더이상 물질 그자체로 인식하기 보다는 세상을 움직이게 하는 시스템이며 눈에 보이지 않는 힘의 이동이라 생각한다.
화폐라는 매체가 생겨나면서 사람과 사람, 도시와 도시, 국가와 국가사이를 이어주는 교류의 수단으로 진화하였다.
마치 커피가 세상에 처음 나왔을때 악마의 음료라는 별칭이 붙어 금기시 되었지만 계급과 성차별의 과정을 극복하고 여러 무역루트를 통해 전파 되면서 이제는 문화의 일부가 되었고 우리가 사는 국가 혹은 세상의 시스템의 오류속에서 함께 존재하는 것과 비슷하다.

나는 이 작업속 우연의 이미지들이 관객들로 하여금 무수한 이야기들을 그들 속에 그릴 수 있는 창이 되었으면 한다.
